Ok so i have been using my seestar s 50 since early November when we get some clear bits (very few here on the north sea coast)

First few times no issues at all the last 3 times out ive noticed the auto focus does work it says completed and its miles out of focus ,sometimes it works very strange .im on the latest firmware and android app.

i have used a bhatinov mast to focusing the manual option ok. i took note of the perfect focus numbers but they seem to vary so no idea why .my normal imaging rig keeps its focus numbers for the last year . (yes i know its not in the same league ) just trying to find out if anyone else was having such issues.

also the last twice its said not connected and then connected ,a restart on the unit seemed to sort the issue .when its working for the money its a great bit of kit.

Hi @ninjageezer

I have had the same focusing problem with mine and find if you point it at a named star that is as high as possible it then focuses ok and then back to the target you want, this works for me. Hope that helps.

Thank you will give that ago ,strange how on the earlier firmware, software i could hop around and focus no issues ....the bhatinov mask is brilliant for this scope though.

Not experienced your issue, but might be worth your while checking out the SeeStar group on Facebook (if you haven’t already) it’s at https://www.facebook.com/groups/201735739305383 and I’ve seen replies from a ZWO rep on there.

Good luck, I’ve only had mine out twice, but think them great fun to use and produce an image with very little hassles.

I also have connection issues.  Bluetooth is very hit and miss. Mostly missed.

Station mode connected to the house wifi generally works well (and then everything is driven from the desktop computer in a warm and light room) but even then the SS has to be rebooted on occasion.

Initial alignment can be erratic, too.

Never had autofocus issues,

Sorry I can't offer solutions but I will be following this thread to see if I can learn any from others.

Has anyone else got an issue with the "magic wand" function? It is a denoising function and is supposed to be usable with images in the library but I can't find it when I open the library. I can see it when the seestar is capturing images but, as soon as you stop it. it vanishes.

Are you looking in the 'Saved' images stored on your phone/tablet, or have you opened the 'SeeStar' folder of previous targets you get when you're still connected?

Check out the tutorial on the Seestar app re this feature.  It gives a full  explanation

It only works on 'live' images - that is when you're actually taking an image and they are being stacked on your phone or tablet.  At this time it actually has 'live' toward the bottom of the screen.

I have checked out the tutorial. I still can't see the magic wand when I load a library image and the tutorial says that you should see it.

As I asked earlier, are you looking at the library on the SeeStar itself, rather than the library on your phone/tablet?

You can see on the tutorial which one you should be using (underlined in red)
