Does anyone own a variable brightness Geopik artificial star? I just acquired a preowned one and it seems very dim even on the brightest setting. Wondering how bright the light should actually be.  Thanks for reading.

I'm looking to update my Hubble star test with this one.

I can't help you on your question, but there is a YouTube video, which may give you your answer.

Thanks

Thanks. I’ve decided it doesn’t work properly & it’s going back. Tbh I’m inclining the other way & am going for the Hubble artificial star I think.

I haven't watch the video yet. I probably get some more insight on this over at the CN forums before I buy.

There is also another version that tests light in RGB for refractors.

The Hubble star test is really good for the job, but poorly designed. It can easily fall apart, so treat it gently 😂.

Thanks

The Hubble one is basic but it does work. I've used it at my astro society "scope surgery" nights and it's proved useful.
