SVBONY are coming up quite well, their cameras, scopes and now this. Their SV220 Dual Band Filter, very good as well as their SV405CC 294 Colour Cooled Camera.

599 dollar Inc free guide scope and dew heater?

Is there another equivalent to this lens/scope? WO 51 or something maybe?

A used Redcat 51 would likely be much better.

New, it's similar to an Askar FMA230, optical match?, who knows.

They are certainly overly loose with their marketing of the item.

Interferometery test report shown on item page shows 0.997 Strehl :D - although they did scale it down so you can't really read info on the image properly, but something tells me - the report is for another piece of optics and not this lens.

Now what would make you think that ;)?

In all fairness SVbony have been making some decent telescopes of late and I have no issues with the 30mm guidescope I use.

I think they are a very Chinese company looking to sell to the west via Google translate.

I've bought their cooled imx585 which seems fine and their svbony "I can't believe it's not an l extreme" sv220 with it's own mass printed emission chart.

Most of the astro industry looks homogenised sold by few companies made by limited number of factories. This brings down cost and has standardisation benefits for consumers luckily. And coloured anodised aluminium. Even wood lol

I agree, the wording and/or graphics on the Svbony ads and website are sometimes a bit ... idiosyncratic. Actually, it's often the case that their descriptions undersell or undermine products that perform quite decently.

I have that eyepiece and I've checked - you can see the whole field stop looking at that end from 17.5mm distance :D

Got me there :D Neither do mine - but given 17.5mm of "eye relief" - one can wear reading glasses to see the field stop :D

I often wondering if there is some sort of cultural thing we're missing with Chinese adverts.

And svbony are so consistently bad with their marketing I'm beginning to suspect it's deliberate.

whenever i go on svbony's website my brain hurts.

im guessing they're just reluctant to pay for some external basic web design advice, or maybe western design norms are very different to chinese design norms?

either way, i've been happy with what i've managed to buy from them, and when they release their own $500 harmonic drive mount one day ill be happy too :)

I want to go back to html websites from the 90s, the internet would work at warp speed if it did and not get bogged down with all sorts of things running in the background to load a page. Cookies can also go into the bin.

I just purchased their 30mm RACI finder, it looks decent but somewhat fragile.  The cross hairs are centered, unlike some reviews.

Nobody else seems to make a 30 anymore.
