gorann
There is quite a lot going on in this two-panel RASA8 image. Top half is from 25 Sept 2021, while the bottom half is from last night, exactly three years later. Amazing how deep space astrophoto allows you to go back to the same objects over and over again😅 About 10 hours per panel caught with ASI2600MC and ASI NBZ filter. Processed in PI and PS. Starting from the top: Sh2-115 and 116: these are Ha emission nebulae although I agree with my friend @Gary Imm that the small Sh2-116 (aka Abell 71 and PK 085+4.1) looks like no other Ha lump I have seen and deserves some attention (https://www.astrobin.com/k10a2s/0/). Abell listed it as a planetary nebula. The much larger Sh2-115 contains both star formation, protostars and young stars creating stellar winds making it quite a complex structure. Sh2-115 and 116 are estimated to be around 7,500 light-years from Earth. In the middle of the image are two distinct large Ha emitting curved structures that I have seen been called shock bows but I am not sure about their origin and what have shocked them. Maybe someone here knows. At the bottom half you find LBN 379, a bright nebula from the Lynds' Catalogue that here show both red and blue nebulosity,. Next to it is the distinct and relatively bright small planetary nebula We 1-10 (PN G086.1+05.1), discovered by Weinberger in 1977 and located 1400 light years away. Finally my image reveals some very faint blue Oiii emitting structures at the bottom 1/3 that I have not noticed in other images of this area - it would be thrilling if some are remnants from a supernova..... Cheers, Göran Close up of Sh2-216 (PN or not?): Close up of LBN 379 and We 110:
TiffsAndAstro
Wow this is amazing. Not sure how intentional the framing is, but it's very cool. Like a stairway to heaven or hell. Or a fairground rotating tunnel ride that makes you lose your balance. But in a very impressive way. Yes, it is a bit of a mix of doomsday and beauty. Being there physically with all that gravity and radiation would surely be your doomsday😱
symmetal
Excellent image, and not one I've seen before. What caught my eye was the structure in the centre which looks quite solid with a smooth surface, different to all the other nebula structures. There's also a dragon stepping off it going towards the light. 😊 Alan
