Trouble observing moon

Recommended Posts

Hi, I tried observing the moon through my celestron astromaster 114. The finderscope was aimed at the moon, but when looking through the eyepiece it was just grey. There's was a street light in front of where I was observing. Could this be the reason I couldn't see anything?

Either your finder is not aligned with your scope, or you were looking at the moon and your focus was so far off the moon was a super giant grey blob. As mentioned above, align your finder by aiming your scope at a distant daytime object then adjust the finder so it is pointing at the same object. This way when you use your finder to point to am object your scope will also be looking at that same object.
