M13 meets nature journaling

I took inspiration from the art of nature journaling to create this page around the sketch of M13 I just did tonight. A bit bare in colors, and I smudged the ink around the lettering (then kept going hoping and failing to give a cool effect), but I'm happy and I like this style - less log book, more observational.

Cool stuff @SwiMatt - I would consider that an investment in future pleasure (re-reading that in the future) not only a capture of the moment and the pleasure in the past. 👍🏼

Very good point! This would be the case even without the journaling though ;)

Very nice! Actually if you have a 10mm EP for x150 magnification try it on M13. It further darkens the background and I see quite a lot of stars in it.

I do have a 9mm which I don't use as much as I'd like as I find the eye placement a bit uncomfortable, both with and without glasses. It's a generic "gold liner" and optically isn't half bad... anyhow, I just need to more actively think about using it.

I know what you mean, I have the very same type of 9mm EP and it has a lot of 'kidney bean' (technically 'spherical aberration of the exit pupil'). It is worst in daylight and gets better in the dark when the eye pupil is open larger. Anyway in light polluted sky higher magnification helps  and globular clusters respond very well to it. These and  planetary nebulae are the DSO where Maks do very well and give even top 4 inch refractors a run for their money.

Thank you for the suggestion! Because the EP is uncomfortable I never used it seriously. I will change that for sure. I started yesterday night on some small (< 5') open clusters and it did give me an interesting obsrvation.

Very nice idea. If you had a set of them you could make up a book for publication - bit like Turn left at Orion!

I leave the books to those truly talented :D
