1.25” or 2” filter Askar 103 asi533

Recommended Posts

Hoping I can get some help in this, I have a Askar 103 with the.8 reducer also using a asi533mc camera. I know the 533 takes 1.25” filters and I can put 2” filters in the reducer. What I am hoping someone can help with is it better to go with the filter on the camera as it is closer or use 2” filter in the reducer in case I get a different camera later on? Thank you in advance

If you use the 1.25" filter adaptor, which should have come with the camera, and screw this into the 11mm spacer directly in front of the camera sensor, then you can use the 1.25" filters.

It's only when the filters are placed further away from the sensor window that you may start to see vignetting. ;)

Although you don't need them for small sensors I decided from the start to go 2 inch, and glad I did, mostly because I use a lot of camera lenses and can screw them into the front of most lenses with step down rings, the future proofing alone will pay for itself if I decide to go for a larger sensor.
