Per Ardua ad Astra - Mini Obsy

Well this is the start of my mini observatory.

I Picked up a second hand Keter shed this morning to go along with a Pulsar pier I got a few months ago.  I've got a few other jobs to do around the house before I can start clearing the area where the pergola is, which is where the obsy will sit.  This will be s slow burn, but gotta start somewhere.

Not 100% decided yet whether I am going to do a roll off roof, or put the whole shed on tracks and have a roll away obsy.  Once I've got rid of the pergola, I'll see how it sits

I opted for moving the whole enclosure for a number of reasons, the main one being I intended to keep the enclosure as small as possible (to keep the Chief Planning Officer happy) and I wanted easy access to the mount/OTA, etc. I built a wooden frame on rollers and then clad with 12mm thick t&g board. I was going to go for a hinged door but it was going to be overly complicated so I went for a split end wall that I can lift on and off.

I can close up at night leaving the OTA on the mount (DEC rotated to set the OTA horizontal) whether it be the Samyang, RedCat or SM90ED.

It takes less than two minutes to power down and close up.

Hope this is of interest.

Never seen one on big drawer runners like that, great idea. Saves having to have permanent rails sticking out into the lawn.

They do work well - and very easy to move. They are good for 500 lbs or 230 kgs. Not sure what the enclosure weighs but I'm sure it's not that much.
