Aurora alert, tonight 12th August - currently kp index = 8

The Met-O forecast is for a lot of clear sky for NW England. right now though it's not looking promising. I'm working a night shift so will get some opportunity to have a look.

Mostly clear here, although I will be travelling a few miles into surrounding farmland for some darker skies.

It was quite a display of Aurora last night which peaked around 23 30 will pillars visable to the naked eye here in North Cornwall. A few Persied meteors seen but not as many as hoped from my dark site location in the village.

Best of the Aurora images

Single 20sec exposure straight off the camera 1600iso Canon 600D and Samyang 14mm f2.8.

Cheers

Phone shot 23.30 12th August

A slight pink hue was visible by eye, with silver pillars moving.

Saw a bright Perseid fireball in the South with orange head and green trail about 00.25, out of shot 😏
