SH2-132 Nebula in SHO Narrowband

I'm excited to share my latest image of the SH2-132 nebula, captured in SHO narrowband. Located in the constellation Cepheus, this nebula showcases the incredible beauty and complexity of our universe.

  • Imaging Telescope: William Optics RedCat 61
  • Imaging Camera: ZWO ASI2600MM Pro
  • Mount: ZWO AM5
  • Filters: Antlia 3nm SII, Antlia 3nm Ha, Chroma 5nm OIII

Exposure Time:

  • 122 frames of 600 seconds for OIII
  • 102 frames of 600 seconds for Ha
  • 101 frames of 600 seconds for SII

Capture Dates: July 29th to August 7th

Integration Time: 54+ hours

Processing Software: PixInsight and Photoshop

Image Scale: 3.43 arcseconds/pixel

Field of View: 2.9 x 1.9 degrees

SH2-132 is an emission nebula that beautifully blends emissions from sulfur (SII), hydrogen (Ha), and oxygen (OIII). Using the SHO narrowband palette allowed me to highlight the nebula's intricate details and vibrant colors. This project required several nights of imaging and careful processing to bring out the best in the data.

Additional Information:
Location: Castillejar, Spain at the remote observatory Pixel Skies Astro
Calibration Frames: [50 frames of Darks, Flats, Bias]

well done!
Thanks for sharing

Mostly, nebulae look like an island among nothing. The Lion in your picture looks rather like a deep hole in dense hydrogen matter which reveals the oxygen background behind. Very impressive! 🤩

Thanks Brian - indeed probably the best "upgrade" that I made, was on the night sky. I did pull out from our backyard Obsy project and sold what I had bought till that moment and invested into a remote site. Currently I can do only wide field projects due to the OTA's FL (300mm).

A stunning image.  As @assouptro says, oh to have a remote set up in Spain!  By my calculation this was the result of 10 clear nights in a row!

Yes - I think you are right. On an average I get 33 to 37 (10-min) frames each night so, it should have been 10 nights straight of clear skies
