AUGUST 8TH - WL - AR3780 STILL GROWING.

Recommended Posts

Only forecast for any Sun from 6am to 9am today, so up early to catch it.  Very fortunate, I only had two minutes through cloud from 6.52 to 6.54am in an otherwise overcast sky.

I used Seestar as its by far the quickest way I can set up on the Sun. Quickly took 14 frames,a couple of which showed all the active ares on view.

Three of the groups have enough energy to produce X-class solar flares, including AR3780.  The SN was up 20 over yesterday to 242. AR3780 alone is responsible for 103 of this number.

Single frame from Seestar below, plus info from spaceweather.com.

I managed and early catch this morning too Paul.
Perhaps a little luckier with the cloud as clear until 09.30 here.
Its an exciting time to solar observe.

Thanks Alan.  It certainly is, and we're not at maximum yet! 🙂
