Prediction of what I can see

Recommended Posts

I’m familiar with Stellarium and use it “real time” on my iPhone. Is there an easy website to predict constellations or planets in the future? As in, “Next week or next month”, obviously with a time of day included.

Thanks

Stellarium can do that:

This is it on the PC - I'm just looking for the Nova in Vulpecula that's just kicked off..  On an iPhone you just click the time in the bottom right.  I assume it's something similar on Android.

Hope this helps

Alyn Wallace used to produce a great video called "what's up in the night sky" for each month, prior to his death. Photopills offers something similar, aimed more at imagers, but will highlight meteor showers and other interesting events. That's if you're looking for advice on what's happening.

The monthly "Sky at Night" observing guide on Youtube is worth a look though aimed more at the visual observer than imagers.

Handy for planetary highlights like transits.

This months one is here (August 2024)
