Name the scopes you've owned...

Recommended Posts

I can understand why Russ. I can recall looking through your sons (or was it yours ?) Skymax 127 at the SGL star party a few years back and having a really lovely view of Saturn

I'm starting to want a nice 5"-6" mak-cass again just thinking about it !

That particular one was a really good sample of the 127. It was Harry's scope but he later decided he really wanted a Celestron C6 SE. And i couldn't afford to hang onto the Skymax myself. Definitely one of those scopes i regret selling. That said we really landed on our feet with the C6. The chap said it was good example and he wasn't lying. And it's just that bit more versitile than the Skymax being F10. Highly recommend the C6 John. I think it maybe one of the best SCT's Celestron have produced, even better than my old black tube C5. And like the Skymax, mirror shift is not a problem.

In order, from the beginning:

Monolux 60mm f/11 department store refractor

Coulter Odyssey Compact 10.1 inch f/4.5 Dobsonian

Orion (US) 120ST 120mm f/5 achromatic refractor

Orion (US) Apex 90mm  Mak-Cass

Orion (US) 8 inch f/4.9 Newtonian

The Odyssey and the 120ST have all gone on to new owners. I really miss the Odyssey, my back does not.

I just wish that they would stop selling thoise really REALLY Rubbish scopes that you get in Argos! They can destroy an interest before it's even got started...

ANT

My first scope came from Argos, a Celestron 127 powerseeker newt on an eq mount, it fascinated me !

Always fancied having my own scope and I'm really glad that I got this one, it was the start of the wallet emptying madness. (see sig)

Its having a second life with my younger brother, his kids are amazed each time they get to see the moon through it.

I presume I can't list scopes that I've tested for customers :)

60mm Cheap, dreadful unbranded thing

10.1" Coulter Odyssey Compact

10" C10N-GT

SW 100ED (the champagne coloured one painted white by one of it's owners)

Borg 77ED f/4.3

Thank goodness no one has posted a "List the scopes you'd like to have owned" thread.... ;)
