Planetarium Software

Hey everyone,

Can someone recommend a good planetarium program? Is there one that's better for a beginner or one that is better than the rest? I'm sure everyone has a different opinion so if you could let me know why you like a particular program that would be great.

Stellarium (gratis) is very easy on the eye. Cartes du Ciel (gratis) has more information, better organised, more facilities, The Sky is apparently the ultimate.

I agree with the above!

I use both TheSky V6 and CdC V3. CdC actually works better for me! I can use the USNO A series catalogues and get down to >18 mag, whereas TheSky needs a $$$$$ upgrade to Professional level to do the same!

Go for CdC! ( It controls the GOTO on my LX200 and HEQ5pro - no problem!)
