Hello from Kent!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say a quick hello! I've had a fascination for space and astronomy since a young age (I'm 31 now) and during my teens used a Tasco 114mm reflector for a while mainly observing the Moon. I've always lived in a town so light pollution is a problem but I really want to buy a decent scope if I can (I've seen a rather good 8" Celestron I like the look of :) , but any recommendations are most welcome maybe spending £500 to £600?), once I've moved house which should be in the next month or two hopefully.

Anyway so... I probably won't post much for some time until I have moved, but after checking several other astronomy sites I wanted to join this one! It looks easy to use and has a comfortable feel about it. :)

Hi Ben - welcome to the site. We share something in common - that Tasco 114mm - if ever there was a starter scope, that was it.

Still, I did manage to get around the skies quite a bit when I had it. Looking back, I paid way way too much for it (would you believe it £300 !) and now realising it had poor quality eyepieces I wonder if I should have waited.

Still - you are now looking at a cracking scope, so have fun choosing. Measure twice and cut once (if you get my meaning)

:)
