Venus in the Cornish fields

Recommended Posts

Taken on Friday night whilst hunting those elusive noctilucent clouds. (no I didn't see any)

Venus setting in the west whilst I was sitting in a beautiful Cornish field, watching the moths flit about and all the wildlife sounds.

Composite of one short and one slightly longer exposure. Taken with Canon 600D and Samyang 14mm f2.8 blended in photoshop.

Great Photo Lee ... simple , and yet it portrays the beauty of our hobby ... of course over here in cambridgeshire its recently been blowing a gale and thick cloud ( although its better now ) so its lovely to see such a relaxing scene .

Just a lovely image that demonstrates why it’s always nice to be outside under an evening sky, even if those pesky NLCs don’t show up!

Thank you Paul. Yep I thought it was a bit early on the month to see any NLC but you never know. This site is lovely and peaceful, you get the occasional dog walker but lovely flat horizon nearly all round. Perfect to place the Delabole Astronomical Society dome I thought haha. I did get out another morning earlier this week as I think down here the early morning NLC would be a better chance as that's when I saw my first one last year. I did convince myself of seeing some but I know what I'm looking for and it wasn't despite a few alerts going off on the Glendale App saying they'd seen them. Good luck on your quest for NLC 🤞

😂Thank you Stu. It was just lovely sitting there even if the NLC didn't show. I think us in the west have had the best of it and not many cloudy days. You can bet that'll change now at least its not any astro darkness so no scope time until way August for me. (can't delete the laughing emoji, finger slipped)

Yes , its certainly been good weather in the west ... changing now as you wrote , i agree regarding observing in the summer . Its ok for luna and trying to find venus during the daytime , and of course a bit of solar , but , bring on the autumn .

Definitely bring on the autumn. I'm always the one who says that and the darker nights when people say they love the light evenings coming in the late spring and summer. Only NLC keeping me occupied atm then milky-way in vertical position in late July early August when astro dark returns. Then imaging again with the scope.
