Filters in Binocular Telescope

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Can anyone out there tell of their exeperience using deep-sky filters with their binocular telescope?

I am thinking of purchasing a pair of UHC filters for my 82mm BT, with the potential purchases of O-IIIs or even H-Betas at a later date.

Thanks

Not with a binocular telescope as such, but with various binoculars such as Canon 15x15IS using front mounted 2” UHC and OIII filters, and 22 x 85 binos with eyepiece mounted filters. I’ve even tried the 2” filters on the front of a little pair of 7x35s.

I would certainly recommend it, I have had very good views of the North America nebula and the general nebulosity around Cygnus etc. the Veil needs higher power I think but certainly the Eastern Veil was clear enough in the Canons. Give it a go!

For the record, I normally use one UHC and one OIII because I don’t want to buy two of one sort, and it works fine.
