edff3d
So I'm not a total newbie to astronomy, but it has been some time since I last had and used a telescope. I used to own a SW 200P dobsonian, but as I work nights and my work pattern at the time was rather chaotic, I decided to sell it on to someone that would actually get some use out of it, instead of it just sitting and collection dust. So a few years have gone by and I would love to try and get back in to hobby, but this time, I'm looking at getting something small and easy to take on holidays to France and camping trips. I used to have an account on here, but for the life of me I can't remember my login details and all the email addresses I have tried, haven't worked with the 'forgotten password' link, which really sucks, so I'm starting over. I'm looking at possibly getting the AZ-GTi mount and a small scope to get back in to observing and possibly try out some astrophotography at some point. Anyway. Guess that's all for now. bosun21
Welcome back Andy. I also rekindled my love of astronomy after a long hiatus. Once I started again I found that I had only realized what I had been missing. Good luck and much enjoyment to you.
Grant Fribbens
Welcome back Andy. I have an AZ-GTI and I use a Samyang F2 135 or WO ZS61 on it with an IMX571 camera and filter drawer. This setup with a Windows based mini pc is great when I go camping automating it via GSS Server, PHD 2 and N.I.N.A. I have to admit the Zwo AM5 is catching my eye!
stafford_stargazer
Welcome aboard, I did the same, had a break for about 10 years and got back into it about 2 months ago. Loving it again, but still looking for the keeper scope. Good luck and clear skies.
Sunshine
Welcome back! a small scope is often our most used, something portable ad easy to set up fits anyone’s lifestyle, maybe even a tabletop like the 130P would be great.
Ratlet
A man much like myself, except I remembered my old login! Lots of choice on the small scopes. You've come to the right place, the only thing astronomers love more than spending money on new kit is spending someone else's 🤣
doublevodka
Welcome back, I have to admit that like @Ratlet says I do love spending other people's money 😂 For my 2 pence worth, the AZ-GTi is a good choice, I really like mine for its ease of use Edited March 28 by doublevodka
