Sky-Watcher EvoStar 72ED w/ Canon EOS M50 mark ii

Recommended Posts

I have managed to buy:

  • Sky-Watcher EvoStar 72ED
  • 0.85x reducer for said telescope
  • Canon EOS M50 Mark II

Does anyone know how to combine the telescope and the camera? I don't mind returning the reducer if it's not needed.

The reducer does says it should be used in conjunction with a DSLR-M48 Ring Adapter but the Canon EOS M range do not match M48.

First time on the forum, first time looking into astrophotography, if I made a dumb choice you can tell me I did and I won't be offended!

Can you get a t-ring adapter for your dslr and screw this onto the reducer?

I have a skywatcher 72ed but the longer tube version (only 10mm longer) I used to use a ovl Field flattener connected to my 72ed and then the t-ring screwed onto this then connect my Canon 600D onto this. (not the greatest images of my older setup)

Could you add some onafes if your setup.

Hi

Use one of these:

https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ex5aT7x

plus 27mm of m48 extension tubes:

18mm back focus + 10mm adapter + 27mm gives you the magic 55mm needed for the flattener.

A 12mm and a 15mm pair from the same supplier will get you there. But...

Even better, get a set of tubes so you can vary the distance. Take 55mm as a starting point only.

Cheers and HTH
