bish
Hi all, I thought I would have a look at IC 444, small 4' x 8' reflection nebula in Gemini. I haven't looked for this one before. My sky is bortle 7/8 but IC444 is listed as mag 7 so thought with a UHC or LP filter should be OK. C/2022 E3 ((ZTF) was listed as mag 7.7 and easy to see in the 10" dob. Not a hint of the nebula. I will try again from a dark sky. Has anybody seen this from a light polluted area? Thanks Bish
josefk
i'm interested in the replies you get from others here - i can't answer your question re. B7/B8 but i know i failed to see this with 95mm of aperture (no filters) in SQM 20.8 (ish) skies in January this year on a night where i did positively see M1 which is (i think) notionally a similar magnitude and size (so surface brightness).
