My comet effort

Captured on night 25th to 26th Jan.  Clear moonless night but bortle 5 sky 

Tak fsq106 reduced to 380mm f/l

Asi 1600 mono cam

Lum 187×30secs

Rgb 24x30secs each channel

All registered in PI and integrated for star layer.

All aligned with the new PI comet align.  The old version failed dismally

Finished in PS

Great image. I think the comet was at its best about then. What, with anti-tail and ion tail showing nicely. Just that rapid motion to deal with!

I got a decent animation with my effort but the stacked comet image didn't fare too well with my processing skills!

Great result on a challenging target, it looks like the option of presenting comets against a fixed star field is gaining in popularity.

Does the forward facing tail move round as the comet progresses on it’s orbit? I’ve seen other images where there appears to be an asymmetric flare at roughly 90 degrees to the main tail and I’m wondering if this is the start of the forward facing tail.
