M51 & friends

A little while ago Peter (Psychobilly) posted a superb image of M51 taken through his WO72. "Gotta have a go at that." I remember thinking, as I have the same OTA.

I was amazed to see how many little fuzzies there are immediately in the vicinity of M51, I can count over ten, and there may be more, I'm kind of hoping that somebody has the necessary doodad to pick them all out ;)

To that end I have uploaded the full size jpg here;

QHY8 on William Optics 72 Megrez, WO Field flattener, TS Off axis guided (it's a very compact and bijou little imaging setup this way)

PHD + DSI guiding

Captured in Nebulosity2, stacked DSS, finished PS.

13 x 900 secs, flats, darks, bias applied.
