Got an email about a new comet registration tool.  Running it now on a load of luminance data.  Hopefully it stacks comet and stars both  

“The CometAlignment tool has been designed to align fast–moving objects, such as asteroids and comets, interactively among the stars. The process also allows you to perform subtraction operations among frames to obtain images of the star field without the comet or a starless comet.

Havent managed to figure it out yet!  Seems to align but not stacking automatically, and I havent got that far with PI yet.

Is this new comet registration tool available to download?

I think mine came up automatically a day or 2 ago, haven’t tried it yet though. Hoping to get a chance to image it (C2022 E3) over the weekend.

Not appeared on my system. I am running the latest version (I think).

I am on a M Mac so that might be the issue as it runs under Rosetta.

I quite often have updates pop up, maybe you don’t have that option switched on if you don’t see any?

Can someone tell me what the script is called so I can do a search.

It's a process rather than a script and is in the ImageRegistration section.

And just in case it has been unchecked here's the update at startu check on/off in Edit Menu/Preferences

Thanks @StevieDvd for the info.

I do have the preferences set the same and it does check for updates on start up.

 

The difference is my repositories are at version 1.8.9-0

 

 

Tried adding the new version but it won't take it.

So finally delete existing installation and do a complete fresh install.  - Success!    It downloaded 16 updates after doing the fresh install and my repositories are now at 1.8.9.1. 

Will now have a look at the comet alignment tool.
