Sad News re johninderby

What terribly sad news. SGL has been the poorer since his parting.

He added much to the forum. We always enjoyed sharing jokes. He was a mine of info, especially when it came to engineering. He was always showing us to make improvements to our scopes, mounts and other observing paraphernalia. This of course led to many exchanges over the about handles and AeroShell grease.

My since condolences to @thunderbird02 and John’s family

I am very sorry indeed to learn this news. John was a major and valuable contributor to this forum. He was very experienced and always seemed to have useful, innovative and practical advice to offer, especially on how to make the best of astronomy equipment.

I bought items from him a few times and it was always a pleasant experience.

R.I.P John your presence will be missed on here, that is for sure.

So sorry to hear this.  I often enjoyed reading about the modifications that John engineered with his scopes.  He would take a stock telescope  and make proper engineered additions to improve it.  A really skilled man. RIP John.

Very sad news indeed.

I confess I feared the worst after he stopped posting but always hoped there was a happier explanation. John made a huge contribution to the forum, and helped many of us along the way. I met him once at an SGL gathering and we frequently interacted on the forum as we shared a love of nice refractors and solar observing. We also chatted about the testing we both did on the Rowan AZ100 tracking; an enjoyable process.

I am sure John’s love of a good handle will remain a fun topic of discussion on SGL for a long time to come. My sincere condolences to John’s family

Enjoy those stars up there Sir.
