Buying an old ccd camera for guiding

Recommended Posts

Do you guys think that buying a atik 16IC mono would be a good idea . I want to use it for guiding. One of my friends told me that it is risky since it is so old. Is it really common that the camera will brake after just 17 years of being released?

I wouldn't bother. Old cameras are likely to be bulkier and heavier, slower to download, be less sensitive and could have driver issues, whilst a 2nd hand CMOS guide camera isn't much more than £100.
