Meade ds114-ec reflective?

I’m so sorry I’m new and have no clue what I just bought for my husband for Christmas. 
he loves stars and we now live in the country of Michigan and often go to the upper peninsula so I figured I’d get him a telescope. However that was last minute and I got this. Just need to know if it’ll be a decent starter.

It will see more than what Galileo, Sir Issac Newton, etc., would have seen with their 'scopes. I have posted a reply in your other posting.

That kit has been round for many years, twenty or more.  Its rudimentary go-to system may work, or not.  Hopefully it may be used manually.

It appears to have a 2" focusser,  but I doubt if the secondary-mirror is sized for it, to fully illuminate a 2" eyepiece.
