Calculating an objects meridian flip time

Recommended Posts

Plaaning ahead for what looks to be a good chance of clear skies here tomorrow night...

What is the best way to work out what time an objects meridian flip occurs?

I think I can do a search for the object in Stellarium them run forward the clock until the hour angle reaches 00:00:00 - is that right?

Is there an easier way bearing in mind I'm not going to be connected to a laptop or using autoguiding software

Hello!

I don't use Stellarium but but transit time is what you are looking for (transit time is when the object crosses the meridian and appears highest in the sky). In Sky Safari for example the info card shows Rises/Transits/Sets.

PS: Just found this which shows how to enable this in Stellarium: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/438568-can-stellarium-display-risetransitset-times/
