Shorten dew straps ?

I guess i can cut my long dew straps down to keep it neat with the powerbox advance ...

problem is with the moulded plugs on my lynx astro straps what is positive tip or outside ?

i have some quality RCA plugs here i can use.

I'd imagine tip positive. I run mine off the ASIAIR plus and the power to that is tip positive - I don't recall it having the ability to reverse polarity 😉

Dew straps are resistive heaters, I can see no reason for them to be polarity-sensitive. Easy enough to trace which wire is which, with a test-meter, after you've cut the old plugs off though.

As has been mentioned the straps themselves have no polarity so it doesn't matter which wire goes where. The cable is likely 2 core red and black, so to maintain convention put the red to the RCA tip. The tip should carry the PWM switched 12V and the screen should be ground, (or negative) if the dew controller is designed properly.

Some older dew straps used single core screened audio cable, rather than 2 core unscreened, in which case the single core inner wire goes to the RCA tip and the cable screen goes to the RCA screen.
