Wasn't it a beauty? I called the family out to have a look, it was so pleasing. Great earthshine, but the crescent looked just like a huge smile.

EDIT : Just looked over my shoulder and there she is again.......beautfiul. Now I just need her to sink west pronto so I can get some deep sky pics done ;)

Absolutely stunning. Just clocked that crater Petavius - see S@N magazine p26, top left. Anyone know what that straight line feature is, running from the central peaks to the circumference? It's really clear tonight.

It's a rille. From what i understand, the straight ones are thought to have been formed by a collapse of the surface between two fault lines (which technically I suppose would make it more of a graben or valley?) and the curved ones are thought to be collapsed lava tubes.
