Whale galaxy in mist!

Recommended Posts

SPX350/EQ6/ATK-16HR.

L-HaRGB 95-42/12/12/12mins L in 5min subs, Ha6nmRGB in 3min subs binned2x2.

Mist meant ADU's for white level half of what they should have been and so fits images were grainy but galaxy could be seen in full, when stacked they looked a lot better but background was wavey so I over smoothed it some what. This is a big galaxy I have not imaged before a bit like m108 in structure. Last week everyone got clear good seeing except me, I get rubbish skies.

Thanks for looking, JohnH.

Fantastic result whatever the conditions.:)

The time spent getting the Ha has paid off, IMO most colour Galaxy images benefit from a little ha data.

Really nice. A very fine image indeed.

I've not seen an image of the Whale with Ha added like this before, although the poor beastie looks like he's had a run-in with the whalers!

Cheers

Rob
