And here is my latest acquisition, a Mewlon 180 previously owned by Roger Vine who did a review on it.

Nice… you have an “ex” Roger Vine review scope too… I’ve got his FC-100DZ 😃

Photos will follow… promise, need to get them all together, as it’s a fairly large family now 😬

It was Roger Vine's excellent review of the Tak FS128 that first got me interested in that particular model..

Looking forward to seeing your fleet of Taks soon👍😊

Likewise it was all his reviews that started me back into this... I bought some binoculars three years ago, just out of interest and found his binocular reviews very helpful 👍 That led me to reading his telescope section and the rest is history 😁

Sobering to think I now own seven of the scopes on his site 😬

My trusty and well used FS60CB. Love this scope (and mount and tripod) for it's ease of use. An impromptu solar session. Bought a solar wedge on the recommendation of @Stu. Apart from having to get a bunch of Baader stuff to shorten the light path it's great :)

Here's a line up of some. FS 60, FC 76 DCU, FS 102, FC 100DZ

Your 100DZ looks almost identical to my 102, I notice the finder bracket is a different colour than the focuser, do they not make finder brackets for the DZ of the same colour as the focuser? interesting. I'm loving the colour scheme of your FS102 with the blue, I'm curious of how the FS102 and TSA-102 compare at the eyepiece, the FS102 is a doublet fluorite? pardon my FS ignorance.

I’m calling foul! Your DZ looks like it is masquerading as a TSA-102. Which is it? I think we should be told!

Confused of Somerset 😉

Always happy to lead people astray Malcolm 😀. Did you enjoy? Has to be said, going up in aperture will show more granulation and detail obviously, but still good through the 60mm 👍

Sorry guys. Well spotted. Glad to see someone is patting attention. Clearly true Takficionados 😊👍🏻

The scope on the right is a TSA 120, not an FC 100DZ. This picture was taken before the the latter arrived. I do have a family portrait of all the fracs mounted somewhere…..

@Sunshine, the FS 102 has the older Tak green as does the FS60 (and it’s sibling which isn’t shown here as it’s permanently mounted on my C11 in the dome).

The FS 102 and FC 100 perform equally in terms of resolution. The FS has a slightly warmer tone on planets which I prefer. It has given me some of the best views of Mars I ve ever had. It’s bigger and bulkier than the FC (not too mention the extra 2mm aperture). In many ways i prefer the FS, but some of these are subjective, like it being my first Tak and first fluorite. The FC is much easier to mount.

Both  FS and FC are fluorite doublets. The FS has the F element outside, whereas the FC is inside.

Do these count?

I have yet to use them on the night sky, but hopefully not too long now. I got them for travel and for the coming gas giant/Mars season.

Lovely lovely. Just don’t use them as a bino pair 🤪

Excellent travel EPs as so compact and light 👍🏻

Pity Tak is stopping making them 👎🏻

Having owned a TSA102 and an FC100-DZ I can tell you they are - in my opinion - very different. Overall the TSA being optically better, superbly built, but a bit heavy.

Yes, it is heavy for a 102 Indeed, I think I like that, though. It makes it seem very robust and as you say “superbly built” sometimes I wish it was lighter but I wouldn’t want a refractor which could float on water 😂

Yes, it's very nice to use, an excellent recommendation thanks :). I can see texture with the 60mm, maybe granulation? It's very obviously there in the 100mm.

The photo makes it look very compact for a 120mm vs the 102mm. Is that correct or some lens distortion making it look smaller?
