Sun in Sol Cont & CaK - August 13th - with some surprisingly fine detail in Cak.

My new observatory has been getting some good use both day and night recently with the clear weather. On August 13th, I was out and imaging the Sun just after 10am. I wanted the Sun moderately high in the sky, but before the real heat of the day built up. I was out a little over and hour and stopped when my 500GB SSD was full. The two full disc images at the bottom are two pane mosaics. With the ASI178 on full sensor, each video was about 18GB.

Each active region was caught in Solar Continuum and Calcium K Line, with 3,000 frames for Sol Cont and 4,000 frames for CaK. 12% of those frames were stacked.

The seeing must have improved dramatically for a short while during the CaK imaging, as this is one of the cleanest CaK images I've ever caught. Nice clear convection cells and light bridges across the spots.

Now for the two full discs - both a two pane mosaic.
