First time capturing Uranus

Recommended Posts

I had my first go on capturing Uranus this morning.  Very easy to spot above Mars. It is just a fuzzy blue dot 🤣. I am not sure if the change in colour at the left hand side (darker) is part of the polar cap or a processing artefact but the Winjupos simulation is looking similar; happy to get comments. 8" Dob, asi462mc, 2x barlow, UV/IR cut filter. PIPP, Autostakkert and Registax.

@JeremySand @neil phillipsthanks for the positive but also contradicting comments 😉. I will meet you both in the middle; maybe some details maybe not 🤣!

I shot some images in IR to help bring out details but I must have got it in bad seeing moment that it looked worst than the colour. I will try this week as the weather is looknig pretty good.

Very nice image. It is certainly possible to pick up the lighter polar region, I have managed on one occasion myself.

Is the orientation of your image definitely the same as the winjupos image?

I asked because if you can expose a couple of moons, you can definitely be sure  on the orientation of the image and position of polar region.

How many frames did you capture?
