NGC 7331

The last Galaxy of the season, and the last image with the C11Edge for a long time.  The Moon was fast asleep, and seeing was supposed to be good.  The sky was darker than usual (the reason I could take 120 sec luminance subs), but seeing was not as good as the forcast indicated.  I struggled with guiding all night.  Its a miracle that the stack has a FWHM iof 2.6.  I probably should have rotated the camera, but the OAG creates a shadow when oriented at 90 degrees.  Its ok, I actually like the framing.  I probably should have shot red.

C11Edge .7x reducer and asi 1600

Lum 171 120 sec-bin2

Some good detail in NGC 7331, I also like the framing, it shows the Deer Lick cluster off nicely.

Thank you.  I had my doubts due to the seeing. To bad I don’t have the asi 6200 so I could get Stephan’s Quintet. I think I could. Not sure. Seeing would have to be very good to make it worth it I think

Plenty of detail here, great job!

Thanks. I had trouble with flats. I don’t understand it. Before, if I changed filters there was often an issue with filter wheel position accuracy. But I did not change filters. I took flats and shot. No issues. But a dust bunny remained. Fortunately I was able to remove it. But it pisses me off. Is it the camera or the filter wheel.

I love this bit of sky- and this is really well captured with loads of detail 👍👍👍👍

Thanks whistling B. I wish seeing had been better.  Hopefully the RGB channels will be good.

Not being an imager, at all! I gather there was a flat bunny in your image? 🤣
