What a difference

Hi , I received a white light solar filter today and was able to use it briefly later today.

I already have a Celestron filter for my 6se  and this shows the Sun in an orange /yellow light as I always thought and saw the Sun to appear.

The white solar filter obviously shows the Sun in a white light and I must admit I was taken aback it didn't look right to me .

After awhile II started to get used to the image  but I still lean towards the orange /yellow image .

I noticed three areas of sun spots one at 2oclock another at 3 o'clock and the last one at 7 o'clock(all images reverts.

The white light filter was used with the SkyWatcher80 ED refractor (made a safety strap from velcro as an added precaution) pictures by phone

I do enjoy observing the sun in white light. Sunspot activity is on the up so you should get some good views soon. The Velcro safety strap is a good idea. I’ve never been comfortable with relying a few bolts & friction alone.

White light is fun... Especially when there's a good few sunspot activities... I'd reduce the exposure or gain on your camera as it looks like you're over exposing... You may get a bit if texture when properly exposed and focussed...a continuum filter helps with contrast

Thank you for your comments , I am not experienced in photography and I only have a pretty basic iPhone I would like to obtain better images  and I do have a canon ESO1000d camera, but I don't know if this would produce better images than my phone.

A Canon EOS 1000D is what I use for all my Solar Imaging if it's of any help ... I don't own an i-Phone ( or any other type of smartphone) for comparison though ... :icon_joker:

Probably as you would have more control over exposure
