Omega Centauri also imaged by the 400D on the CPC800 with .63 reducer.

Stack of about 20 exp mostly of a minute @ios800.

Makes M13 look a touch weedy doesn't it! :)

cheers

Very nice indeed. You can see the "foot print" in the middle. Your photos have brought back happy memories of a visit to Oz a couple of years back, thank you.

Wow! that is one BIG globular, beautifully resolved and lots of depth and colour. You southerners are so lucky! I wish I could see the beast, it's just a measly 1° below the horizon from my place!

Just stunning, and a chance for us in the north to see this fine object that is too far south! Many thanks for sharing

Many thanks for kind comments folks!

I was really pleased to be able to have a go at the two big globs (47 Tucanae & Omega Centauri) on my last evening in NZ which happened to be beautifully clear. The sheer size and brightness of it makes it a fairly straightforward object to image, and I was lucky enough to be able to use my brother-in-laws scope with my own reducer. He lives on a rural hilltop location about 50k's south of Auckland and is showing signs of becoming intrested in imaging when he retires....

Beautifully captured.

But you don't have to go all the way to Oz to see this beauty.

It reaches a respectable altitude from somewhere like Tenerife.

How I would love to eyeball that beautiful Globular Cluster.

You captured it superbly well Mark, that's a terrific sight.

Hard to Imagine what the sky must be like from a planet orbiting one of those stars. Be little optical astronomy done I bet.
