My first time out this season and trying for the first time a OSC Asi462mc. I was in horror when I first saw the image of saturn on my laptop as It was just a blob of jelly. I could not get anywhere near focused as the seeing was that bad but with the onset of daylight, and a Baader Ir685 filter to the rescue I started to capture something more reasonable. The sensitivity in IR on this camera is exceptional definitely better than my Asi290mm. overall I was very impressed with this camera and really looking forward to trying it out in some decent seeing.

Very nice Martyn. Good to see you out there getting some early results. IR will help cut through the murk. I was wondering if to try a filter wheel and combine a Colour capture with IR 685. I may try. I do find it can mess slightly with the colour. So unsure how much i may, or may not try it ? The advantage of course is a cleaner result. Can see that here quite clearly even traces of the Cassini going in front of Saturn evident here in your shot. Something i haven't got yet with any of my scopes. Glad you like the camera. I thought you would. What a great start with your new camera and first shot of saturn this year. Excellent result.

Hi Neil thats exactly what I did, But as you say the IR does mess with the colour balance quite a bit. I find if you introduce it gradually in two or three iterations it seems to have less effect on the balance. certainly worth giving it a go especially with the sensitivity in IR with the 462c camera.
