NEW Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi

Recommended Posts

Cheers for keeping us updated Steve.  Must be a nightmare for you guys, mount announced with very little information for you to share.  Seems like the YouTubers are better informed than the suppliers!

Hopefully everything will get more concrete in the not too distant future.

The formal exchange rate has never featured in price conversion from US to UK. Easier (And more profitable) to use 1:1

Cynical? Me? Yep, damn right .

Yep. Products are priced according to local market conditions - if a company can sell for more they will.

@FLO...It's a Sky-Watcher thing 🙂

Yes been here before with other Skywatcher products that may or may not materialise at some indeterminate time. Or are not available in the UK.
Really SW ought to be providing better information and updates to the retailers.

Good luck handling the obvious pre-order enthusiasm. As @Ratlet has said, it must be a nightmare for you.

True but in that case is it eqmod comparable?

Yes but the baud rate is faster with the in built usb ports.  A lot of the new SW mounts have a usb port now and quite a few members of SGL can attest to them working with eqmod or the Linux equivalent (indilib).

The new Star Adventurer GTi mount will be available in the UK next week 🙂

Sky-Watcher's UK distributor says stock from the first shipment will be allocated to retailers Monday 18th (we will then know how many we will receive).

This is the situation for all UK astronomy retailers.

Nice to see some good competition between iOptron and Skywatcher on these light mounts. Adding the GoTo function and guiding in Dec is a really benefit compared to the SkyGuider and former Sky Adventurer!

We should know our allocation later today but lots of customer orders were placed over the weekend so we fear there might not be enough to go around.

With this in mind we have changed our dispatch estimate to 20-25x working days (another shipment with Star Adventurer GTi is scheduled to dock mid-late August).

Would you think it's worth buying the version with the Tripod? Or would a solid photo Tripod be enough?

Looking at sales so far, most are ordering the mount bundled with tripod and extension pillar but if you already own a suitable photo tripod then that will do nicely.

Do you have any estimate on when the mount will be dispatched for those who ordered it before the weekend?

Thanks

Please email us your order number, we will then be able to locate your order and estimate dispatch.

Demand for this new mount remains very high. We are doing best to determine likely numbers and share info.

Currently, we have already sold more than the small number available from the shipment received by Sky-Watcher's UK distributor.

We also strongly suspect the next shipment (mid-late August) will sell out before end of week so have preemptively reset our website dispatch estimate to 30-40x working days (6-8x weeks). Even this is a guess because we don't yet know when the third shipment will dock.

Please be assured this situation (high demand / low availability) affects 'all' UK retailers, regardless of what is sometimes posted on Facebook.

Steve

What a nice surprise to get the dispatch email this afternoon! Thank you @FLO

It is good to hear one is on its way to you 🙂

To those wondering if their order will also be dispatched - if you don't receive our dispatch notification email before end of day then your order will most likely be fulfilled from the shipment arriving mid-late August.

Tomorrow, we will email everyone with a backorder to ensure they know.

HTH,

Steve

I'm a bit disappointed i didn't receive the notification for this despite clicking on it on the website (FLO website that is, not this site,it's not in my spam) so I've only just seen the release 😪

Order is in now, just the mount only option, hoping that with everyone going for the bundle, the mount only version will be quicker....is that how it works??.....😀
