chiltonstar
Taking a series of images of the whole Moon last night (16th March) that an object appeared on two successive frames 2 secs apart at 23:32:20 and 23:32:22. Any guesses as to whether this is a satellite or what? Seems an odd shape for a satellite to me. Chris
RobertI
Not sure but I'm always surprised how much 'stuff' there is up there. Just been out observing the moon for a good 90 minutes and amazed at the number of birds flying across the field of view even at midnight.
Debo
Maybe a weather balloon, I caught something similar crossing the sun. Edited March 18, 2022 by Debo
Barry Fitz-Gerald
Lots of birds about at night at the moment so it seems, had lots fly across the moon the other night, but they transit in far far less than a second, and with quite a few, you can almost discern shape and flapping wings.

Yes, I agree - birds look obvious with structure and cross very quickly. I wondered about a half inflated weather balloon, but I think the apparent movement doesn't match the wind direction. jjohnson3803
I don't want to say it's aliens, but... it's aliens! 😁 Seriously, the Heavens Above web site might list some possibilities.

Surface winds last night were easterly, but higher up (approx 30,000ft) I think they were westerlies - check out windy.com

VNA
The fact that the object is lit. Most likely a satellite? See Heavenabove?
