Small RFT.(Rich Field Telescope)

Recommended Posts

There's a new(at least to me) 80mm F/6.25 FPL-53 doublet at FLO. Looks very ideal for grab and go wide field. All other 80mm F/6 are triplets.

4.8° field at 16× with the 31mm Nagler. Or 4.6° field at 18× with the 28mm UWA.

The evoguide is too short in the available back focus for using most diagonals, none of my existing diagonals worked there was a thread testing this, apparently a shorty barlow used in front of the diagonal may give enough back focus to then reach infinity focus I have yet to try that with mine.

The William Optics Zenithstar 73 is great with a 35mm Aero ED (for travel, 12x, 5.5˚ TFOV, 5.94mm exit pupil) or 41mm Panoptic (10x, 6.5˚, 6.96mm exit pupil). It requires dark skies and dark adapted eyes for Nebulae etc. but luckily it's so small you can easily travel with it!

This thread has inspired me to get setup with a decent RFT scope combination... I had almost all the parts anyway, but with the recent addition of a Baader BBHS mirror diagonal (which has a massive 47.5mm clear aperture) it should work well with my Pentax XW 40 (field stop 46.5mm) 👍

Added to the FS-60CB, this should give a field of view of 7.8 degrees and an exit pupil of 6.7mm, which seems perfect... it's also a super light, grab and go setup 😁

Will hopefully get to try this once the skies clear 🤞
