Nikon Z Mount lenses on astro camera

Nice idea as the Z lenses are so good but there aren't any adapters that I know of ( Says very little ! :) )

The flange distance of a Z lens is 16mm and there are some cameras that have a distance greater than that ie ASI 2600 so impossible to fit. There are cameras around that have a distance of 6.5 mm ie ASI 1600 but I haven't seen any 42mm to Z body mount adapters. It would be simple enough to have one made if you can get hold of a Body mount but I've not seen any of those around either ( Ebay may have some hidden away somewhere )

Another problem would be where to find the room for a filter holder. They start from around 20mm I think.

All adapters I've seen for Nikon are for the F mount.

They will appear one day !

Dave.

I know this is old, but I found this thread searching for the same thing and just realized that even if there were an adapter to fit a Z lens onto an astro camera, there would be no way to focus or control the aperture, as all of the Z lenses (nikon branded) use electronics inside the camera body to control these things...

there are some manual focus offerings from 3rd party manufacturers, but not many.

The iris isn't a problem, if your lens works like Canon lenses do. Set the iris with the body while a Bulb mode is turned on, press and hold a release button to close the iris and detach the lens from the body.

The focusing is an another problem.

I have managed to kind of focus an AF Sony lens and got a respectable result from it by spacing the camera from the lens adaptor out by 0.7mm with delrin rings, but finer focusing, forget it.
