Tonight I used my 8x50 finder to line up Betelgeuse and something caught my eye.

In 90 seconds I saw 14 satellites in the field of view !

Elon Musk - crimes against Astronomers - guilty as charged 🤨

I know these satellites are supposed to be of benefit to those in remote regions, but it really is the Wild West up there at the moment, it’s just going to get worse and worse.

I's amazing how the sales pitch to launch these satellites was to provide internet access to the poorer regions of the world where traditional internet solutions can't work out.... looking at the coverage map  I never realised just how poor  America, Europe and Australia are 🙄

Yes, every company and every nation will now no doubt want their own starlink and once the night sky is ruined anyway we'll probably end up with space advertising billboards!

I seem to remember decades ago Coca Cola came up with this idea, so big corporations no doubt would do this if they could get away with it.
