Cover for Skywatcher Explorer 200P on EQ5

Recommended Posts

I would like to keep my newly acquired Skywatcher Explorer 200P primed and ready for action. It will be stored in a dry garage and I seek a suitable cover to keep the dust off. I gather specialist telescope covers are available but was hoping for something a bit more budgety. Thinking of a BBQ or patio heater cover or something similar. Has anyone bought something similar for this setup?

Thanks in advance.

It would be inadvisable to try moving the outfit fully assembled. If you store it as separated OTA and mount/tripod, and separate counterweight, two or three black binbags should suffice to keep dust and drips off, as well as screening the kit from prying eyes..

Hi I use a double quilt cover just pop it over it so every thing is in side but I would like what has already been said don't move it as one piece , store it set up if you like but with a 200 size telescope it a big thing to move and the chance of damaging some thing is really high

I use an extra large waterproof BBQ cover I got off Amazon for a few £££s

Thanks for the replies. I separate the OTA, mount/tripod and weights to move. The question is more about what I use to cover everything when it is stored in the garage. The quilt cover idea sounds good in that I can probably smuggle one out of the house!
