First Light FLT 91 - Soul Nebula

IC 1848, The Soul Nebula also known as Westerhout 5. Emission nebula located in Cassiopeia about 7,500 light years away.

Modified Ha and Oiii based on Steve Cannistra's bi-colour technique.

This was meant to be a quick test of the optics, but it turned into 3 nights of imaging! It could probably do with more time on Oiii but the weather has beaten me again.

This is the longest I've spent on a single target so far. 86 x 360s H-alpha, 57 x 360s Oiii. Total exposure time 14h 18m.

William Optics Fluorostar 91, ZWO ASI294MM Pro.

Thanks for looking!

CS, Tony.

Superb! Framed everything in nicely - is it a mosaic? Also, have you tried it in HOO?

Thanks Shibby, no, it's full frame with the 0.8x reducer at 432mm.

Here's a straight HOO version for comparison, I've just turned the strong magenta down a bit! I think I prefer the original version which creates a transition (synthetic green), between the two colours. What do you think?

Tony.
