Oxygen 111 filter.

Hi is O111 filter used only for photography or is ok for viewing aswell (if really needed). Sorry need to know before hefty outlay of cash.

It’s almost essential for viewing certain objects, nebulae for example. I would recommend one, but a good one, don’t bother with cheap £20 ones, it’s a false economy. I would also look at purchasing a UHC filter, also useful for certain nebulae

If using for visual make sure it is designed for visual and not imaging.

Make sure you buy 'observing' filters, not AP ones, I would also recommend Lumicon filters, available from the US, an OIII and a UHC would be useful.

Two of the best for visual are the Astronomik and Lumicon. As a previous member has stated, don’t waste your time on the cheap substitutes ( as I did) as they are no comparison.
