This run of clear skies continues, what a relief after so much cloud last year.

After some fabulous views yesterday, I popped the scope out again today to see what had changed. Plenty is the answer, ARs developing and more names to add. The seeing is not currently as crisp as it was yesterday but may well improve later so I’ll keep trying.

I was observing with binoviewers, but switched to the Leica Zoom for this shot as it’s easier to position the phone and I can tune the magnification easily. Kit was the FC100DC on a Scopetech Zero mount, with a Baader Coolwedge, Continuum filter and a UV/IR cut filter.

My phone is an iPhone 11Pro and I used the x2 camera and the ProCam 8 app to capture which allows good control of focus and exposure. I cropped and processed it using PS Express, adding the labels too.

I managed to capture all the named ARs, 12926 being the hardest to get but I managed to get it in the end by playing around with focus and exposure.

Thanks. Yes, nice to be able to pop out into the garden every now and then and at lunchtime to see what’s going on.
