ASiair plus power adapter

Recommended Posts

I'm not so sure. I have the asiair pro and because I spent so much on the actual AAP I wasn't going to take any risks purchasing a different power unit so I bought the recommended zwo power supply. Then at least I knew it was all working and compatible. I bought mine from @FLO and being 12v 5a output will power the AAP and any other extras powered by the AAP, it may be £33 but well worth it in my opinion. 👍

I support the @AstroNebulee action.

Sorry if this sounds blunt. But I have seen far too much stuff from unknown manufacturers that does not work safely or effectively.

You pay hundreds of pounds for the 'computer'. You pay hundreds of pounds for the camera(s).

The Amazon power supply is not a known name. It is the typical '££ less' offering.
It may work out OK. But it is a big risk.

By comparison, if you look at known brands of power supply. Cosel, TDK Lambda and others, the story is different.
These people quote ripple and noise level, hold up time on mains loss, min/max incoming supply voltage, MTBF.
They even make available the CE mark (and other) test house results.

If your imaging does 'funnies' half way through a session, I suppose you may get a refund on the power supply.
If your ASI kit, or camera get damaged, I suppose you can still get get the £15 power supply refund.

HTH, David.
