After atrocious weather the past few weeks I managed a 30 min session. Got a few shots with my 8" Dob and pixel 4a.

Messier and Messier A were showing rather nicely tonight I thought. You caught them in your 1st pic, bottom left.

That was the only area with some details and not washed out by the glare.

Good pics. Amazing what is achievable with a mobile phone.

According to the BBC weather page it’ll be cloudy and rainy here in Cornwall for the foreseeable well into the new year.

Yes I am using the Celestron NexYZ.

Hoped to use my Celestron NexYZ just purchased but had to adapt for a iPhone 4s. Unit seems heavy and somewhat imprecise, but should clouds ever end I may get to use it and compare to yours!

Yes it is quite a heavy holder. Not sure what you mean about imprecise since I have not noticed; i find the controls very smooth although it would be nice to lock the positions on the EP once you have them. I like the fact you can control the z-axis as it is great to bring the camera to the right height on the EP.

The controls are smooth, I just think the overall feel is off. Maybe me ? Have not yet used it.  someday soon.

Best thing to do IMHO is take it outside and practice setting it up and adjusting in daylight.
