Connecting EQ3 Pro to PC via USB cable. Getting confused. Please help!

Hi All,

Both my EQ3 Pro Synscan handset and it's motor control box have USB ports on them and according to the so called manual I should be able to connect it to my PC via a type a to type b usb cable. I've done that and installed so many bits of software such as ASCOM and EQMOD drivers I've got myself confused and cannot see any way of controlling the mount from my PC. Can someone rewind me and tell me what I need to do. I've also tried plugging the USB cable into the control box and not the handset and still can't get it to work.

Cheers

Daz

I'm not in front of my imaging pc so cannot do a screenshot but if you open up EQMOD and look at where the COM port section is you'll see a little binocular icon. Click that and it'll scan for the port the mount is on. It'll error if it cannot find it. Also if the port changes (you use a different USB port etc) it's easier to use this rather than go in to device manager and find the port too.
