Comet Lulin and Regulus (28th February)

Recommended Posts

I didn’t expect comet Lulin to have cleared the wall when I went out for a quick observing session on the 28th, but as I got there and saw Leo crouching nobly on the wall, I centred comet Lulin and had a look in the scope. I quickly went inside to get the DSLR and get some shots, although I knew I was very time-restricted.

So this is only 8x30 secs (4 mere minutes) at ISO 800 (one of 3200), so lots of noise left over unfortunately, but I’m glad I got a pic nevertheless. Regulus in the frame is the cherry on the top for me. I used the ED80 and stacked in the regular manner in DSS, which shows the movement of the comet against the star field over 6 minutes. I couldn’t find the comet stacking feature in DSS (3.2.2) – could someone please enlighten me?

Hope you like.
